Project Development Documentation of The University of Lincoln's First Ever Virtual Fashion Show
Launching May 2020
Welcome to the blog of Shannon Riglin.
An MSc Fashion Management student at The University of Lincoln.
Follow 'behind the scenes' progress developing and launching the University of Lincoln's very first online fashion show, in collaboration with 3rd year design students.
Our final project was a live collaboration with Fashion Design students. Developing, promoting and launching the live Fashion Show in Lincoln City to appeal to the Fashion Industry, from a design, merchandising and management perspective. However, due to Covid-19 we have had to re-design this innovatively, collaborating virtually, to bring an original experience to our audience.
An example of some of the posts I have created using digital software for the social media accounts.
Our final video was produced by 5 of our team members. My role was to write a script and video this, based on marketing the event and what we have learnt from this. I'm not the most confident blogger so it took quite a few re-takes but I got there eventually! I also put together the credits of the video. I was very thankful my colleague has strong digital skills as she did a great job of putting it all together!
Fashion Management
Distinction
This module was based on sustainability within the fashion industry and linear business models striving to become more circular. The first assignment was a sustainability analysis based on a high street retailer, making recommendations on how this brand could become more sustainable.
Distinction
For this assignment, I took the route of a business concept to improve social and ethical sustainability issues. As the global industry is impossible to regulate, a business concept which appeals to consumers to improve supply chain sustainability was the route I took with my assignment. Developing an Instagram page was supporting the theories within my assignment. Achieving 91% for this assignment was really rewarding.
Distinction
This group assignment was an introduction to the complications of a critical path within the industry, presenting this to the Fashion Management course at UOL.
Analysing the brand 'Next' and mapping out the critical path with as much information as we could gather, including S/S, A/W 2020 drops, injections, and contingencies for Covid-19. Using a case study to get to grips with the CP was clearly beneficial.

Distinction
Fashion Sourcing and Merchandising: for this assignment I analysed the high street retailer, Ted Baker. I have always liked their product but it is clear the brand is facing difficult times. This report saw an in depth analysis of the brand including their overseas trade, in store and online retailing, taking into account their strategy, product offering and customer experience. Using a SWOT analysis to support recommendations.
